Analog Integrated Circuit Design - a Lifetime Career

Speaker:  Mr. Eric Young (Design Manager of Power Products, Linear Technology)

Host: MICS

Date: September 26 (Friday), 2014
Time: 3 PM - 4 PM
Location: Whittemore 654 (6th Floor Conference Room)

Abstract:

Mr. Eric Young will speak about a typical career in analog integrated circuit design. In his presentation he will show you the analog circuit industry is very much alive even as digital technology expands, show why analog circuit design is a valuable skill to have and cultivate, and discuss what career paths are available to a person who is gifted in this area. Specific examples of integrated circuit designs (schematic and layout) are presented and briefly discussed, as well as applications of these devices in modern electronic systems.

Speaker:

Mr. Young received an MSEE degree from University of Maryland. He manages a group of designers in Raleigh, North Carolina, designing general purpose switch-mode DC/DC converters and LED Drivers. He is visiting with his colleague, Virginia Tech alumnus John Turner, who received an MSEE degree in 2012.
