  • Multifunctional Integrated Circuits and Systems group (MICS) – A low-power hybrid neural processing architecture for mobile edge intelligent computing; Unified training and inference algorithms for efficient deep neural networks; Low-power machine learning accelerators for edge computing applications; Neuromorphic computing algorithms and hardware implementation.
  • Wireless @ Virginia Tech – Information theoretical interpretation of deep neural networks; Machine learning based MIMO detection algorithms and real-time implementation; Software-defined radio (SDR) prototyping platforms for B5G wireless systems.

Research Experiences

  • Mobile & Portable Radio Research Group (MPRG) – MIMO channel models and space-time transmissions, turbo receivers and iterative decoding techniques, next-generation wireless systems.
  • Virginia Tech Laboratory for Advanced Networking (VTLAN) – Simulation frameworks for wireless mobile ad hoc networks, mobile ad hoc routing protocols, network information theory.

  • Samsung Research America, CA, USA – Created a real-time machine learning platform with software-defined radio support for 6G research and prototyping.
  • Implifide Research Co., Ltd., Shunde, China – Principal investigator for the neoNPU neural processor project; Managed big data and business analytics projects.
  • BinCube Technologies Co., Ltd., Ningbo, China – Designed and implemented new multicarrier transmission schemes for broadband powerline networks.
  • Telegent Systems, Inc., Shanghai, China – Managed the design and tape-out of a hybrid receiver ASIC for analog and digital mobile TVs.
  • TiMi Technologies Co., Ltd., Beijing, China – Conducted research, proposed drafts, and developed prototypes for the CMMB mobile TV standard; Managed the design and tape-out of multiple ASICs for broadband mobile TVs.
